What an underrated group The Seekers were.

I know they had much success, but Judith Durham's voice was (and still is) incredibly powerful & so melodic I always felt they deserved more recognition.

My favourite is "The Olive Tree" which I find very emotional for some reason.

Ozzy,
They have some great songs you just never hear. A World of Our Own is usually it for The Seekers.I agree with you that they are underrated.

I don't know Olive Tree, but I'll hunt it down, thanks.

I second the notion that the Seekers were, and are hugely underrated. I've always loved everything they've done, even the poppish stuff. Of all the songs, I favour "Morningtown Ride". The song just brings out the child in me, and I sing along wholeheartedly every time I hear it.

Dan,
It was a long while back when I played Morningtown Ride, and I listened to it again tonight and remembered how much I like the song. It was meant to be sung.

Kat,

Here is a YouTube link for the Olive Tree.

Wow - what a voice - hope you agree!

Ozzy,
It was wonderful. I ended up watching and listening to each song and then went to Amazon to order their Christmas album after I had watched Morningtown Ride for Christmas.

There are several versions of "the olive tree" on youtube

The Seekers aren't well known in the US because Judith Durham left the group in 1968, just before a major US tour.

With 60% of their talent gone the Seekers folded although they tried revivals with three different women, and finally reunited with Judith in 1993

Thanks Brian,
I love suggestions so over I went to watch a few.

You would be surprised at how well known The Seekers were here. I remember them well.

Judith was the best, no question.
