No earthshaking prose to read in this comment, only a 'thank you' for another trip back to days fondly remembered from childhood ... funny part is, I actually knew Frankie Ford (Frank Guzzo) and Mac Rebennack (Dr John) ... but those are separate stories for another time ... right now I'm just back in a similar classroom in my li'l public school where I had an unremitting crush on my second-grade teacher ... funny how I still remember the lighting of those school rooms - and we had the same type of shades in ours, too ...

Great trip back in time...My daddy used to dance with me to this very song. I miss so many things about him, but the way he danced with me when I was little, how it made me feel special and loved-I miss that the most.

Thanks for the montage of sea going music. I'm off for the beach next week.

Richard,
It is wonderful how these small memories, like the lighting, stay with us.

Ah, the pain of unrequited love!

Muse,
Your dad left you a wonderful memory. I'm so sorry for your loss as I know the ache stays around a long time.

Enjoy the beach!

Have you found the song "Thanks for the Memories" yet? That's the one we play for you! Bobby Darin . . .Mack the Knife and what else? WOW. All of these picks take me back. Thanks.!!

Z&M,
You've got to love how songs just seem to stay in our memories, totally intact. I can sing along with even the oldest. I'm glad this jogged a few of yours.

Richard mentioned unrequited love. I can recall having a crush on several girls (it seems such an antiquainted word today, doesn't it?). I was the jerk who would poke them with my pencil, or "accidentally" put gum in their hair, and then gallantly assist in removing it. It was harmless fun, or so I thought. I've always wondered, and still do, what childish games the girls played to get our (the boys') attention. I just hope they were equally childish and immature.

Dan,
I always thought we girls were much more sophisticated than you boys, but girls did think that back then.
