Ramblin' Jack should be taught in high school. This guy can teach more about the day-to-day life of our countries (USA and CANADA) than any history book will. Great post.
Hi Kat. Love your site. It is top of my favorites list. I really want to download this song (Cigarettes & Whisky by Ramblin' Jack) but It seems to be only 24 seconds long. Is there something wrong on my end....or is that the way it is posted? Thanks...PS I have four other covers of the song if you interested. Tip
My Anonymous Friend, I think it may be your end. I played the slide song, and it was over 2 minutes long then I right clicked, downloaded from the MP3 link and saved then played the song file I'd just downloaded. It was 2:02 minutes long. Try the right click save and see if that works for you.
I'd love some more covers of this song. My e-mail is katry@comcast.net Thanks for offering!
This song is a real treat. In my little brain, Ramblin Jack is a giant. He can squeeze every morsel of goodness out of a song. He played Toronto a year or so ago and his stories and songs were a delight.

Thanks, Dan
He makes cigarettes and whiskey almost inviting.

mister anchovy,
You've described Ramblin' Jack perfectly!
We heard Ramblin Jack at the Night Eagle Cafe, a small (~50people) acoustic venue in Oxford, NY, doing songs from his South Coast CD.What a treat!
Muchele,
You have me more than a teeny bit jealous.
