Nope, this song hasn't changed since I first heard it all those many years ago - but wasn't it just yesterday, really?
I listened to this with the curiosity of a tiny child trying to understand what the 'big people' say, and it never made sense ... even back then. A Zen koan, maybe? Or just the drugs ... ?
We'll never know ... now, 'Barabajagal' ... THAT was a a song ...
The lyrics of this song should have inspired a PBS Mystery show long ago, called "The Case Of The Disappearing Mountain". This is one of those great songs that no one could ever understand, like "Whiter Shade Of Pale", and "Everyone's Gone To The Moon".
Moondog, and on and on. I went to read the lyrics and found out it isn't Juanita. I was shocked as I always figured it was. Come to find out it's "Oh Wanita, oh Wanita, oh Wanita, I call your name." Who knew?

Richard,
I just love this song and can't really explain why. The beat moves me every time I hear it played.
I think I've never really understood it much either. It just never mattered I guess.
Finally remembered the koan ...
"When one knows nothing about mountains, one looks at a mountain and sees a mountain.
When one knows a little bit about mountains, one looks at a mountain and sees more than a mountain.
When one knows all there is to know about mountains, one looks at a mountain and sees a mountain."
See? I'm a commonsewer of useless facts and trivial (yet somehow 'fun-to-know') information ...
Oh. The squash? Cook it 'til it's at the stage of 'done'-ness YOU like ...

Richard,
Useless but intriguing. I agree about the fun to know. I love knowing stuff.
Thanks for the cooking instructions.
Dan,
I had totally forgotten about A Whiter Shade of Pale, a great song making no sense at all.
searching for a lost love Juanita, first there is a mountain, the search goes on
