TOO FUNNY!! I'm sitting here trying to "import" it onto my itunes -- I've been searching for "dololly" for the past few minutes. omg I've totally lost it - funny how the mind works.
OK! there it is...yester-me
Where have all the good tunes gone?
As a mother of 3 teenagers, I ask that question everytime the radio comes on in the car. It's quite a comical hand slapping fest we all have changing the radio stations. It's very hard feeding my kids good tunes these days. I as thankful for music blogs like yours Kat. (all your favorites are on their playlists -- I infiltrate their itunes library when they're sleeping!!
I have come across quite a few of the good old tunes coming out in remixes. Makes you wonder.
I'll have to look for the neat remix I found a while back that this DJ turntablist whatchamacallit did with the original Moon River sung by audry hepburn in bkfst@tif
It was a little annoying but I liked it. Kids enjoyed it. It's neat to track down the original for them to listen to - I love when they play something that they think is a new song and I start singing along and I get the "Hey how do you know this song"
Hi Jersey, My sister's kids are in their 20's, the youngest being just twenty. They have been exposed to our music since they were little, and it took. Each Christmas I give them CCR or Buffalo Springfield or a similar favorite group of mine. One is even into Dylan.
I don't know any of their music, but they're just fine with that. Like your kids, they are amazed that a new song is really an old song.

This is a simple and beautiful song, melodically and lyrically. Whatever happened to this kind of songwriting and recording?
Dan,
I wish I knew. These days I have no idea what is on top of the charts. I can't stand to listen to most. It makes me wonder where the music went.
What a song! thank you Kat.

I always contend we grew up with the best music.
Moon River - Kid Koala aka "Mom's favorite DJ"
