I think this is one of the most beautiful covers of this song. It gives me a chill when I hear it. The song comes from her 1980 album Roses in the Snow.
Although I like the song, Roses in the Snow at a modest 30 minutes in length and dominated by a country/blue grass feel was one of my least favorite ELH albums. Strange that the Christmas album that preceded it was so much more interesting.Pieces, Elite Hotel, Luxury Liner and Quarter Moon had set such high standards that were to return again with Cowgirls Prayer
Talking of Christmas it is almost time to crack open Bob's effort to recognise the season.
MY Dear Hedley, I really liked this album from the first hearing and it was also one of the first country type albums I ever listened to all the way through and wanted to hear again.
Interstingly enough, this isn't my favourite version of the song, even though I love almost anything that Emmylou's ever done. I can't remember which my favourite version was, though I heard it only a month ago or so...
Waenthoronien, I would be hard pressed to figure my favorite version of this song. The versions all seem to have some uniqueness, the slant of the individual singer.

Very nice!

I agree, Ralph.
You've been playing a lot of my favorite sons lately. Thanks!
You are most welcome, Cuidado!

Kat,
My favorite for this one is Joan Toliver. I think I sent you that one a while back.
Mark,
It's here in my files-I'd forgotten I have it-thanks for jogging the memory-in a while!
